Copic Blue Skies: Preclass

Welcome to the pre-class discussion of supplies needed for this class! A few notes to start with:

    1. Recommended prerequisite is Alcohol Marker Jumpstart.
    2. If you’ve taken Jumpstart, you may well have all the markers you need for this class!
    3. It is highly recommended that you refill your markers – we’ll be covering a good bit of area, and full markers will eliminate streakiness.

Before we start…a little housekeeping

I retain the copyright to the content you are learning in class. That means…

  1. Do not sell or give away the concepts from my classes – you may not re-teach my instruction contained or created within these lessons.
  2. Do not post a video tutorial or step by step photo tutorial of your own redraw of class content.
  3. Do not repost any handouts you receive in class.

However…I love to see students making strides and taking this teaching and personalizing it with your own skills.

  1. DO make your own designs and develop your own style! I love that!
  2. DO gift your creations made with these techniques, of course!

At the bottom of each lesson you’ll see some ways to share your homework and ask questions, so that’ll be handy for you.

Supplies

Colors needed

You can use any brand of alcohol markers, they all work about the same!  You’ll need one or more “sky” colors – feel free to try each lesson a few times with different blues in your collection. Be sure to have a few grays. C0, C3, and C5 are used in class, but you can easily swap those out for numbers one digit off, etc.

The “optional” colors listed below are used in lesson 4, a soft sunset sky; you can substitute other colors easily for those too.

    Markers

Some colors are very similar – feel free to try substitutes. You won’t need all the greens necessarily, and you may want to substitute your own favorite greens for mountains and grasses as the ground of the images. These are the Copic numbers listed below, and I get mine either at BLICK or JACKSONS

    1. Blues for skies

      2. B000, Pale Porcelain Blue

      2. BG10, Cool Shadow
      3. V04, Lilac
      4. BV02, Prune

    Paper

You’ll want to use whatever paper YOU normally use. I use Neenah Solar White 80lb  in class, and techniques may need to be adapted slightly for other papers.
