30 Days WC: Preclass

In April 2025, a number of artists at Artventure wenth through this course “together” – meaning everyone posted their work on or around the day of the lesson throughout the month. There were no “rules” – you can skip days if needed, etc – but sometimes it helps to see in real time what others are doing, hear their questions, see the responses.

It took me about 45 days to finish mine, and I’ve included them at the end of each lesson. Not for you to feel the need to paint something larger (I didn’t paint postcards for these) or with more advanced techniques since video was not recorded….but for a bunch of them I included some step by step photos. Sometimes that helps me to see what order an artist added layers, and I can apply that to other paintings even if not following an unsatisfying photo slideshow!

On the lesson for Day 30, I posted a YouTube video in which I went through each of the 2025 paintings to critique myself. Hope that’s something you’ll find helpful too!

This preclass lesson is all about the supplies! If you’re already watercoloring, you may have all that you need already.
