Description

In this intermediate aqua or water-based marker class, 5 lessons will lead to a fun handmade accordion sketchbook filled with national parks! You’ll be given ideas for adapting lessons to national parks YOU have traveled to, working from your own photos.

What does “intermediate” mean here? This class requires some drawing. Not a lot, and it’s doable by someone with limited experience. Some elements can be created with stamps, and that will be demonstrated. But many elements will use the aqua marker properties and show techniques to use far beyond this course.

This class is appropriate for artists working in any genre – cardmaking, fine art, etc. Any brand of water-based markers can be used, but demonstrations will be in Sketchmarker’s Aqua markers, highly recommended and affordable. (See full supply list in the preclass lesson linked below)

  • Intermediate Level
  • Prerequisite: a wee bit of drawing experience and Stamped Watercolor Jumpstart may help but isn’t required.
  • Supplies are found in the free preview lesson
  • Over an hour of video content

While this class is taught using water based markers, there are hints on how to manage with regular watercolors. I was successful in using regular watercolors and very pleased with the results. I found this loose wash and ink style to be very forgiving and a lot of fun. Whenever I travel, I dream of painting the wonderful sights. Now I have ideas on how to approach the scenes. I am ready to scroll through vacation photos and give it a try on my own.

I LOVED this class!!! Even though I didn’t have the Mini Aqua Markers, I used a very limited set of Tombow Markers for most of my pictures. I went back and did each lesson point again with water colors or sometimes water color pencils using my own photos for reference and found that the lessons learned were applicable to the other mediums… I’m hoping I can remember the techniques now to add to my own travel journals and daily sketches. Fantastic! A wonderful class that broadens horizons! Tanya
