I just remembered something I learned from Angela Fehr. I told her I was frustrated with the publics attitude when I tell them I did not create anything on the card; it was a paint-along-with-me tutorial. In our conversation she mentioned that I could sign my painting with “after __________.” Would that be something that would be acceptable to you? I’m trying to think if I was an artist and someone did a really poor rendition on my tutorial would I want that kind of recognition. Now, my stuff usually turns out pretty decent, so that’s not an issue here. And if it doesn’t, it get’s painted on the back side. But, just trying to think about your side of it.
I’m ok with you deciding how to sign it; the additional signature seems cumbersome to me. In most places you’re posting online, you usually have an option for a caption, which is a more valuable way to credit an instructor—-if possible linking to where you learned the technique. 😍
Hello Sandy. I know that I saw a video about copyright issues right after Kristina Werner did hers, but I cannot find it. I’m trying to figure out if you allow us to make cards to give to others out of the exercises we do. Suggestion: if you really want people to respect your wishes concerning copyright, you really need to post something on your website and with each class you give. Some of us are not artists and/or haven’t been in the “artistic “realm” before.
I’m totally fine with people making cards for their own use with my techniques. Just not claiming them as their own and making money off of them. 😉
I feel the need to clarify. For example, Lesson 4 Making thin leaves. I would like to use the finished product of that exercise as a card to give to a friend or family member. I have no blog and I do not plan to sell them.
This has been the best class ever! I encourage anyone to do it. Sandy, your teaching style is such that, even online, you create a warm, welcoming, safe and comfortable learning environment. Thank you. I have learnt so much, and it was such fun! I feel that I can continue my watercolour journey now (with lots of practice) and find, as you said, my own style. And I absolutely love my sketchbook; I’ll be adding to it very shortly, in the secret pages!?
