Welcome to the preclass lesson for Chisel Marker Nib Techniques class!
Supplies here are ones you may well already have; I always encourage students to adapt what you have, but do understand that you may get different results. Which can be very good ones!
I retain the copyright to the content you are learning in class. That means…
However…I love to see students making strides and taking this teaching and personalizing it with your own skills.
At the bottom of each lesson you’ll see some ways to share your homework and ask questions, so that’ll be handy for you.
Use whatever paper you normally use! For the demonstration it’s on marker paper (I drew in my sketchbook, but you can print the sketch out on whatever paper you want – even tear a sheet out of your sketchbook!)
I can highly recommend a Copic Acrea pen – it even covers reds! Get one at Blick or Amazon.
The course is demonstrated in Ohuhu Oahu markers – but the techniques will work using any marker brand with a chisel nib. You can also choose any colors – the ones below in the Oahu picture are the ones in the demo; the Honolulu and Copic equivalents are provided, but feel free to get creative!
OAHU 320
HONOLULU 320

This video was posted on YouTube, and has some good info about the nibs to set you up for the lesson.
