Whether you’re new to Copic markers – or have years of experience under your belt – this class will help you understand the markers: how to choose them and how to use them! Everything from basic blending techniques to shading and color theory will inspire your Copic art in this class. Many downloadable handouts will help you test and practice your blending and color combinations, and you’ll use these swatch sheets for years to come.
While some lessons in the class are geared to papercrafters using stamps – fine artists can also learn much by applying the techniques to drawn images as well.
Students can even take this class without owning a lot of markers! The color theory exercises will teach how to mix colors using a color wheel to create new hues. The recommended color list can be previewed in the public Pre-Class post, however – don’t stress. Use the colors you have and keep a list of markers you might like to add as you go!
This class will get beginners started, amp up intermediate students, and deepen an advanced student’s knowledge of Copic markers – and this class serves as the prerequisite for future classes.
The lessons can be viewed anytime and at your leisure; there are almost 5 hours of instruction that you can watch again and again for years to come.

This class provided an excellent foundation! I loved the art basic and color blending instruction. I took this class because I love Sandy's high contrast style and layers of color...it didn't disappoint. If you are new to Copics or just want a good understanding of color, I highly recommend this class.
Since the first time I saw a Copic colored image I have wanted that same skill. I have been struggling with Copic coloring for years. I have taken classes, I have bought books, I have bought numerous markers, that now I know I don't need. I would highly recommend anyone interested in Copic coloring to take this class first. I would have saved so much time, money and frustration. Thank you Sandy!
This was such a great class for me! I learned so many art fundamentals in addition to Copic techniques. Sandy provides info on everything from the marker itself to coloring skills. I especially appreciated her showing us how to "make new colors" with the markers we own. This skill has saved me money, frustration and time while taking other classes or working on projects. Sandy thinks outside the Copic box with her color combos; I definitely received knowledge from her I haven't seen anywhere else! I took the Hex Class with her live and that is also a wonderful class packed full of fun techniques I have applied many times since the class! I would recommend both of these classes!
Oh the Copic knowledge I gained
I completed the Jumpstart class before I owned any Copic markers. Strange I know, but I wanted to know if they were worth the investment. Sandy's instruction is amazing and you'll feel like you get to know her throughout the course. The jumpstart class and hex chart helped me purchase individual markers that were right for me, ones that fit my color tastes and blended well. I have a healthy collection of markers now, probably not even a third or quarter of what is available, but I've found they're perfect for my needs and budget. I also learned a great deal about shading, techniques, and how to make things look awesome! Having completed the course prior to owning markers I think I may have skipped over some of the frustration that some have with difficult blending which is priceless to me. I am definitely signing up for Copic Hex Art for sure! Thank you Sandy for such great courses!
Great introduction to Copics!
I took this class even though I thought I know a few things already, but This class really changed the way I think about color and blending techniques. It's a class that's suitable for any level because Sandy approaches it from an artist's perspective and includes a lot of instruction about color theory.
