Whether you’re new to Copic markers – or have years of experience under your belt – this class will help you understand the markers: how to choose them and how to use them! Everything from basic blending techniques to shading and color theory will inspire your Copic art in this class. Many downloadable handouts will help you test and practice your blending and color combinations, and you’ll use these swatch sheets for years to come.
While some lessons in the class are geared to papercrafters using stamps – fine artists can also learn much by applying the techniques to drawn images as well.
Students can even take this class without owning a lot of markers! The color theory exercises will teach how to mix colors using a color wheel to create new hues. The recommended color list can be previewed in the public Pre-Class post, however – don’t stress. Use the colors you have and keep a list of markers you might like to add as you go!
This class will get beginners started, amp up intermediate students, and deepen an advanced student’s knowledge of Copic markers – and this class serves as the prerequisite for future classes.
The lessons can be viewed anytime and at your leisure; there are hours of instruction that you can watch again and again for years to come.
Supplies for this class are in the free preview lesson in the “curriculum” tab.
So grab your markers, some paper, and let’s jumpstart your coloring skills!

I am a beginner. Complete never did any copics before beginner. I will be retaking the course and practice practice practice. But I have learned so much already. Thank you Sandy.
Excellent course with detailed instruction
I was new to Copic markers when I started this course and I purchased the markers recommended by Sandy. This is the level of detail to which Sandy goes. You can start this course knowing next to nothing and learn a lot in even the first lesson. I am just on lesson 4 and I can already see a great improvement in my blending. I am looking forward to finishing the course and learning even more. Thanks Sandy.
I have taken other copic classes but none have been as thorough as Sandy’s Copic Jumpstart! So many good tools and explanations to use away from the class as well! Super well done and highly recommended! Thanks for sharing your talent Sandy and helping us find and develop ours❣️
Copic Jumpstart: Exceptional in all ways
I am old, really old (76) and have gone to many schools and studied many subjects - biology; mathematics; poetry, nursing, stagecraft, pharmacology, lampwork ... and have had many teachers at all educational levels. It does give you some perspective on teachers and I say without reservation that Sandy is one of the best instructors I have had in any subject and Copic Jumpstart is one of the best classes I have ever taken.. Sometimes gifted professionals like Sandy, are so experienced and intuitive that they forget or don't know what a beginning student needs. Sandy is always on target. She provides clear detailed instruction followed by exercises that offer practice without boredom. She is supportive, encouraging, moves along at a useful pace and is never repetitive in her comments. If a point needs repeating, her comments always come at it the issue from different and interesting directions. I have taken 5 of Sandy's courses - the Copic Jumpstart was my favorite and I look forward to the Watercolor Jumpstart that Sandy says she is working on. If you want to learn how to use Copic Markers, or if you just enjoy experimenting with color - or even if you want a model for developing an effective online class for beginners, I recommend this course without reservation. Thank you Sandy
Totally recommend this class
I’m about halfway through jumpstart class and find it very informative. The printouts and teaching style make it easy to follow. Thanks!
