Why I believe giving is important

Years ago I ran a 501(c)3, Operation Write Home, which sent millions of handmade cards to deployed heroes serving overseas so they could write home to their families. 

I’d always been a big supporter of charities; but when I ran OWH, I had a whole new appreciation for giving. I now want to do all I can to help others do their good work and not spend so much time seeking funds to keep them going.

I’ve created resources through this business to help us join our efforts, through art, to help those who serve our world!

Classes and printables here help with three categories that tug my heartstrings:

1. Planet earth: we only have one home in this universe!
2. Animals, both domestic and wild, need humans to care for them.
3. Disaster relief, especially food. Because, well, if your stomach is empty it makes everything else worse.
4. Children in need in the US, especially neglected populations and communities needing kids art supplies

Art meant so much to me as a child, and watching arts education in the US decline to little or nothing breaks my heart!

Every July during World Watercolor Month, I serve as an Ambassador for the festivities. In addition to raising funds by providing them with a piece of art they can sell on swag, I donate a percentage of watercolor courses here to International Child Art Foundation to help provide art experiences for children.
