Flower Power: Meet your instructors (and supplies)!

Each of the instructors in this class is a crafter with years of experience – and they’re all thrilled to take part in this class to help you create more!

Each has told us a little bit about themselves – and provided a list of the supplies for their card. You can decide if you need an item or two for their lesson or if you want to plow through with what you already own; the stamps and dies will need to be substituted since these were from a number of years ago.

If you’re so inclined, please feel free to subscribe/follow each one of these teachers; they’re participating in this out of the goodness of their hearts, so a “like” once in a while on their videos or social media posts is a great way to thank them for providing great inspiration!

Where in the world are you, and who are you with?
I’m quarantining at home near Seattle with my husband and my sassy terrier Ellie.

What’s your favorite medium to use? I love learning about new mediums from my crafty friends but probably my absolute fav are Distress Inks, as you will see in my video!

What’s cardmaking principle do you use the most? When I’m making cards, I love bright colors, white space and I’m not afraid to add some sparkle. In fact, it’s always a bit of a surprise if I don’t add glitter or sequins, LOL!

What was your biggest challenge in the card you made for this class? The biggest challenge I faced when creating these cards was stopping! Once I get going with faux watercolor inks, I can spend hours creating!

Where in the world are you, and who are you with? I live near some of the most fabulous beaches on the Central East Coast of Australia with my hubby and 2 rescue cats (or it could be the other way round, I’m pretty sure that it’s the 2 rescue cats that are in charge and that it’s us that live with them).

What’s your favorite medium to use? My ‘current’ favourite medium is anything watercolour and I think that is because it is new to me and I do love a challenge.  I started by watercolouring with Distress Inks , next was Watercolour Brush Markers, then half pan sets…..  and I can already see where this is going and my bank account isn’t going to like it.  Though I will have to say that go-to colouring would have to be Copics and if I just want to sit and relax and colour, then these are it!

What’s cardmaking principle do you use the most? Less is Best, I adore cards that are loaded with lots of techniques and bits and pieces, but it seems that when I try and add something ‘more’ there is always something else that I ‘take away’.

What was your biggest challenge in the card you made for this class? Well, now that you ask, the card that I made with the pencil shading just wasn’t colouring the ‘way that I had envisioned’ and it took all of my energy not to ‘toss it’ and start again.  So I kept going, (which is something that I make myself do now when I feel like this) and in the end it ended up my fave version of the flower!

Where in the world are you, and who are you with? I’m in Exeter, California.  I’m a wife, mother of 3 and a nurse.

What’s your favorite medium to use? My favorite medium changes with my moods.  One day I’m a water color girl, the next I’m a copic girl.

What’s cardmaking principle do you use the most?  I can’t help it…I’m a woman. I like to “leave a little sparkle” on all of my cards 🙂

What was your biggest challenge in the card you made for this class? My biggest challenge in my card was knowing when to stop.  More is not always more.

Where in the world are you, and who are you with?
I live on Whidbey Island in WA state, with my husband and our dog Bear—an Eskie (American Eskimo).
What’s your favorite medium to use?
Ink. This may surprise some folks, but I actually do not enjoy coloring things in unless they’re small/quick/easy and don’t have a lot of detail.  When I do color things in, my go-to medium would be some form of watercolor (watercolor paints, water-based markers, or water-based ink pads pressed against a non-porous surface and picked up with a water brush.)

            [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column]
            [/et_pb_row]

What’s cardmaking principle do you use the most?
White space.  I adore white space.

What was your biggest challenge in the card you made for this class?

Hi there! I’m the owner of this site – and an obsessive colorist! I’m tickled pink (or yellow, my favorite color) that my friends are joining me for this class!

Where in the world are you, and who are you with? I live in Washington state, just a bit south of Seattle.

What’s your favorite medium to use? All of them! I change back and forth day to day, and love trying out new things. And trying old mediums on new papers or other objects to color on. I even drew on my dog’s harness! ha. Love me some Copics, watercolors, pencils, alcohol inks…..all of it!

What’s cardmaking principle do you use the most? Contrast. Always include contrast! The eye is drawn to the place in a painting, a card, your outfit, or frankly in your living room – the place that has the lightest lights next to the darkest darks. Figure out where you want people to look and increase the contrast there.

What was your biggest challenge in the card you made for this class? Figuring out when to STOP! That’s often my big challenge. I start coloring, then a story develops in my head, and I start on a background, then I need to add more to it, and maybe some white pen, and….there’s always a danger in overdoing it! But I was happy with it, and I know lots will be smart and stop BEFORE they get to adding the window. And others will give it a try! I love watching folks grow and learn, and it’ll be fun.

What’s cardmaking principle do you use the most?
White space.  I adore white space.

What was your biggest challenge in the card you made for this class?
Deciding on a layout.  I couldn’t narrow it down, so I created 3 cards—I loved them all.  LOL!

Where in the world are you, and who are you with? I’m in Austin, TX with my husband Jason, our two goldfish and our newly planted veggie garden! It’s the first time I’ve tried to garden here — and it’s already going up to 96 today! Wish me luck lol!

What’s your favorite medium to use? Watercolors, watercolors, watercolors!

What’s cardmaking principle do you use the most? Less is MOAR! ’nuff said 🙂

What was your biggest challenge in the card you made for this class? My biggest challenge was having too much to share! Once I get my supplies out it’s hard not to stop. I had to cut a bunch of footage out of my video to keep it under an hour ha!
