World Watercolor Month

Every July, painters worldwide celebrate the medium and paint all month long! The event was conceived and run by our pal Charlie at Doodlewash, and he offers optional subject prompts to inspire you. I’m an ambassador, and we participate every year!

Get involved by painting daily and sharing with hashtag #worldwatercolormonth2026 on social media. Attend online events, help with some fundraising – find a watercolor class that’ll get you started painting! Or join in with others in an interactive painting class that will carry you through the month!

EVENTS IN JULY

  1. Kickoff livestream.  It’ll be loose and free colorplay, using “unplugged” as our inspiration! WATCH REPLAY
  2. Majestic Mountains Student Zoom Call 1. The first one is July 1 at 4pm Pacific, lik will be in the classroom that morning. Register anytime and see replays.
  3. Instagram live. Watercolor fireworks on July 4th at 10am before the celebrations begin! WATCH REPLAY
  4. Livestream campfire painting with Daniel Smith. On July 10, Sandy will be demonstrating on their livestream at 10:30am. Join us! 
  5. Majestic Mountains Student Zoom Call 2. The first one is July 8 at 4pm Pacific, lik will be in the classroom that morning. Register anytime and see replays.
  6. Wash and Ink Party on Zoom – Sunday July 12 at 3pm Pacific, bring your own project to work on along with others! Paint or draw, whatever stage you’re at…we can talk about favorite supplies, techniques, the weather….and just have fun!
  7. Majestic Mountains Student Zoom Call 3. The first one is July 15 at 4pm Pacific, lik will be in the classroom that morning. Register anytime and see replays.

FUNDRAISING FOR KIDS

Our community has raised thousands of dollars yearly for the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) to help kids make art. THANK YOU! We just sent over 500 handmade bookmarks for them to give to  every child in attendance at their event!

A few ways to help:

  1. Take a class. As always, I’m donating a portion of my classes from now til the end of July to the cause.
  2. Purchase a piece of original art! In my fine art shop new sketches and paintings will be added daily, and a percentageof all purchases through July will be donated to ICAF. 
  3. Get some swag at the World Watercolor Month store. Mugs and art supply zipper pouches with art from me and many other artists!

NEW! Majestic Mountains in Watercolor

During July this course is interactive! Each Wednesday,  one of the five lessons in this course will be released to registered students. At 4pm Pacific time that day, you can join in a zoom call to watch it and paint along together – we can stop the video to ask questions, and stay after to share paintings and ask more questions about watercolor! The link for zoom will be provided in the lesson for the day, no need to preregister, just check there and join in!
